I was quite interested in something similar to your setup, but did not get there for many reasons. Im happy with the 604's and glad i got the opportunity to buy them. 604's are as rare as hens teeth in Norway, where I live.
Yes the Altec sound is great. I just did the J. Markward crossover for the 604?s yesterday and put some winged c KT88's in my old Quicksilvers and life is good... dynamic, resolved and good

I am using a Behringer CX3400 active crossover. I have the system triamped, at the moment. I have three different types of amps, now, but am building a mate to a DIY Class A amp that is pushing the horns. Dynamic, resolved, and "the sound is pure" is the last remark I heard. :2thumbsup:
